Deposit Netherlands and Brand Masters expand collection points for deposit bottles and cans to garden centers

[Breda, 16-9-23] - Statiegeld Nederland and Brand Masters are jointly realizing collection points for deposit bottles and cans in garden centers throughout the country. With the new collection points in garden centers, Brand Masters and Statiegeld Nederland want to make it even easier to hand in bottles and cans. With the goal of more recycled material and less waste in nature.

Thanks to the strategic partnership, consumers can now also hand in their deposit bottles and cans at more and more garden centers. A logical step, Brand Masters believes. After all, consumers can also buy refundable bottles and cans at garden centers. Therefore, the deposit should be made just as accessible.

"Patrick Meeren, Manager Sustainability at Brand Masters: "At Brand Masters, we are responsible for selling soft drinks in various segments, including garden centers. A natural step to therefore also take our responsibility in the collection of plastic bottles and cans. This way, we make it easier for consumers to return deposit bottles and cans and contribute to a circular future."

With the collection devices, Brand Masters, the suppliers involved and garden centers are taking responsibility in the chain. Whereas supermarkets are obliged to offer a collection point on the store floor, garden centers are not. However, they are aware of the added value of the additional collection points because they can now offer their customers full service. In this way, sustainability and service go hand in hand, everyone involved takes responsibility and consumers are made even easier to return their deposit bottles and cans.

"Jans Pijbes, Relationship Manager at Statiegeld Nederland: we are very pleased that Brand Masters is helping us to realize additional collection points at garden centers across the country. This is necessary because more and more people are turning in their deposit bottles and cans. Retailers, caterers or other parties who would also like to place a collection device can contact Statiegeld Nederland."

The joint efforts of Statiegeld Nederland and Brand Masters will contribute to a positive impact on reducing litter and promoting a sustainable future for us all. For the placement of the first voluntary collection device, Tuincentrum Peer in Doetinchem signed the cooperation agreement. This in the run-up to World Cleanup Day on September 16, 2023. World Cleanup Day is the largest annual cleanup event in the world.
