We like to focus our attention on inspiring stories about sustainability and innovation. Today we look at our brand new, sustainable location: "The Bay" in Breda. This move, coming October 14, 2024, means more than just a change of address; it is a step towards a greener and healthier future of Brand Masters. Let's discover how "The Bay," with its focus on ecological integration, circular building and well-being, is the perfect new home for Brand Masters Netherlands.
On the Steenen Hoofd in Breda, an artificial peninsula on the river Mark, the sustainable distribution center "The Bay" is being developed. This center, with nearly 50,000 m² divided into six units, is designed with a strong focus on ecological integration, circularity and well-being.
The site is unique because of the surrounding soft banks, which have rich biodiversity with vegetation such as willows and reeds. This biodiversity forms the basis for the landscaping of "The Bay." The project is aiming for "Very-Good" BREEAM certification and focuses on circularity and WELL standards, which means using all-electic installations, economical materials and recycled materials.
The distribution center is surrounded by native trees such as the fladder elm and rowan, which contribute to ecology and have a cooling effect. The facades are designed to be overgrown with climbing plants, providing additional habitat for birds and insects. The roofs feature sedum, which not only contributes to insulation, but also provides habitat for nectar-seeking insects.
Permeable paving at parking lots allows rainwater to seep into the ground instead of being drained through the sewer system, improving local water management. Walkways and picnic areas for co-workers have also been created, contributing to a healthy and pleasant work environment.
"The Bay" in Breda is an example of how modern logistics centers can contribute to sustainability and ecology. By balancing infrastructure and nature, this project provides not only a functional space, but also a green and healthy environment that enhances biodiversity.
